Quasthoff on Thursday

Okaaaay, I turned it on then switched it off well within 30 seconds. Then I saw where it said somewhere, "Watch what happens to....", so out of curiosity, turned it back on. Did I miss something because it was, to me, the same all the way through? Suffice to say that I wish I had stayed with my first inclination!

I don't think you missed anything. Far be it from me to attempt to read the mind of the person who put this delightful video on Youtube, but I imagine they meant that Quasthoff, known as being a serious lyric bass, becomes a very animated scat singer.

I take it that scat is not to your taste ?

10 out of 10, or should that be 1 out of 1?

I hope Friday's Quasthoff suits you better !

I think it's great to find a classical bass who goes for it like that when singing jazz. It isn't easy to improvise, especially when you're trained to sing from the music, and exactly what the music says.
