Managing yourself

Sinclair Ferguson writes about Timothy in a little Banner of Truth book, the title of which I have forgotten, about the importance of knowing yourself and accepting your character and personality and working with it.

The venerable Field refers to an article which may help some to manage themselves, and explains why some of us have to take on more than we can ever really do.

Well I'm afraid that the link was far too complicated for me, I rapidly lost interest. This may be because I have previously worked out the reasoning to this seemingly intractable problem all by myself. I suppose I could call it Ken's fifth law of procrastination, (I have so many reasons for not doing things that it could hardly be the first).

"Whatever you have to do that MUST be done NOW, it's not nearly as interesting as all those other things that you never wanted to do in the first place but suddenly seem more compelling than THIS."

See, simple, and in a fraction of the space!

Please could you post the name of the Banner of truth book you mentioned, when you remember. Thanks a lot! Esther

I THINK it might be "Grow in grace". Many of my books have either gone to a good home or are in boxes waiting for ... something, so it isn't easy to be really sure.

Talking of good homes for your books, I was on the 'phone to a lady yesterday and you came into the conversation. She told me that she now owns what was your Matthew Henry, - bought it in the Oxfam Shop in Chester! I suppose that's appropriate considering M.H.'s connection with that city. However, it takes up far less room on a C.D.

Yes. I even have it on my Palm pocket computer thing. It's good to know the book has gone to a good home!
