Phew, it's day off today

That means do the weekly shop, pay a couple of bills, chase up a bit of administration that I have no idea how to do...

Last night a group of Chinese came round for the evening. We ate, then talked about their summer and their future. One is off to Angers on the Loire to continue their studies. Two are returning to China for a couple of months. We talked about the churches in China, about their families, about their studies, about Chinese society, about Chinese politics, about Falun Gong, about Taiwan, Russia, Japan , Korea, the USA. It always fascinates me to talk with the Chinese because the way they think and the way they see the world is really very different.

It helps in thinking about the gospel, too. How much of how I think is western and how much is Christian? What does repentance mean for a Brit, for a Chinese, for a Français? When we come from a culture that has Bible influences even in the everyday way we speak is it easier or harder to recognise sinful attitudes (or just different)?

Pat "hit the wall" yesterday. She got so tired that she had to sleep in the afternoon and also she had to leave us halfway through the evening. I think she's OK today, but she needs to be careful.
