You have to admire a language where

the action of launching someone through the window is described in just one word - défenestration.

I tell you, it would have revolutionised the life of one of my old physics teachers - his harangues would have been so much shorter...

"Tu veux que je te défenestre ?" instead of
"Do you want me to throw you out of the window ?"

Efficace ou quoi ?

A friend informs me that the word was in common parlance during his schooldays but with a slightly different signification - this being to dangle a boy trouserless from a high window.

Not in Wales, I assure you.
Not in Wales.

Defenestrate still works in archaic english surely?

I get the feeling that commenting late at night leaves me open to leaving virtual evidences of my not so latent slowness on the uptake. D'oh.
