A trip to the cinéma (aptly spelt in Welsh, sinema)

Last night we took the kids for a half-term outing to the cinema to see The Night at the Museum (VOSTF - version originale, sous-titres français)

We went to the big 20 screen cinema in the heart of town because while our splendid local cinema (to which we have never been!) has the film, we wanted to watch Ben Stiller in English.

VOSTF - we noticed that the couple behind us were deaf - they spoke to each other in sign language - and the subtitles are great for them.

The film was super. Good old fashioned rubbish with a bit of derring-do and a subplot of old enemies being reconciled by fighting a common peril, and of no-good Dad makes good in the end.

One stupid little detail irritated me. Do Museums of Natural History really have dioramas of Roman cities and the Wild West? Perhaps they do in the states. Anyway, compared with the rest of the stuff in the film, that was easy to believe...

The queues outside the cinema were huge! I expect some people were queuing for Odette Toulemonde, a clever title which sounds like in debt to everyone. If the film's as good as the title it must be good.

I went to see this too, it entertained me very well and was an enjoyable evening out. The main disadvantage is it suffered from overexposure and trailer syndrome i.e. all the good bits were in the trailer so they weren't as funny.

I went to the Nat His Mus recently, because I had an hour of dead time and it was a good experience- I don't remember seeing any dioramas though! The cool thing is that they'd stocked up on live animals as well as the flying dinosaur and massive crab that decorate the foyer.

The coolest thing was the ants in the bug place, they had a plant they were devouring in a glass case, then out of the case came this rope which was suspended over our heads and lead into their nesty thing. It was fascinating to see all these ants crawling along without a barrier between you and them - made you feel itchy though!

Well, I've gone on too long, see ya

There's got to be a better term than 'trailer syndrome'
