Well did I stir up a controversy!

over the pronunciation in French of Ghengis Khan...

is it Genn-zhis Kan

or Zhenn-zhis Kan

or Jean-zhis Kan (Jean like the name Jean).

Since the name Jean is pretty popular hyphenated with other things (Jean-Pierre, for example) I have decided to adopt Jean-zhis Khan as my usual pronunciation.

Seriously, though - Ghengis Khan came up pretty early in the message as an example of an empire that came and went - and folks listened well and so on.

One little thing - did you know that Ghengis Khan had a wife who was a Christian?

I think I have already mentioned that while in the UK people generally find a private teacher for their instrument, or do it through a school scheme, here there are municipal music school, conservatoires and so on. The Kitchen

 Our new apartment will be equipped with toilet and bathroom etc. but not with anything at all in the kitchen. Not even a sink. So we need to purchase a kitchen and engage a kitchen fitter. A friend who knows how to fit kitchens suggested buying an Ikea kitchen. "They're guaranteed twenty years and they honour their guarantee", he said. "I've proved it".
