Salon de l'Immobilier
Pretty much as we expected. We saw the Bouygues people, and the house we fancied is not yet reserved. We learned a bit more about the development. The estate is going to be quite pleasant. The house will have a double garage on the front (handy for bikes etc.), not a car port as I originally thought from the plans on the website, and the houses are going to have grass roofs. That's a laugh. In summer Bordeaux houses don't even have grass lawns!
If we wanted to buy it it means paying for it in stages as it is built. This would mean:
1 Putting down 25% in April
2 Paying out all our savings by September, needing the mortgage money from the bank progressively from October this year.
3 continuing to pay out sums periodically until the house is finished in March 2008, when we would move in.
Advantages - we would buy a nice sized house at a good price.
Drawbacks - we'd actually spend over a year paying rent and mortgage!
I don't think it is feasible. Back to the drawing board.
