14 juillet à Bordeaux

There were two bands on parade and they gave a brief concert after the ceremony.
My friend Renaud was in the Air Force band, dressed in white.
Then we went down to the riverbank to watch the fireworks barge come upstream and to wait for the fireworks.

Another special moment was when one of the Chinese students phoned to ask where we were : "à coté du fleuve.

The folks around were making helpful comments like 'il vend des glâces.' "C'est pas la Seine !" and one lady began waving her cap in the air to guide the students to where we were.

They never found us.
