A sunny day !

Today was bright and sunny and at 7pm when I left the student centre the statue atop the cathedral was shining very brightly.

Officially known as 'Our Lady of Aquitaine" it is often called "the big shiny lady in the sky" and visitors to Bordeaux are told that she always faces away from the railway station.

A friend of Pat's came for tea this evening, and so I bought a bar of Lindt Chili. It was surprisingly nice, though a little unusual.

More useless information. Apparently, chocolate is frequently made with chilli in South America. Also in Sicily. The rest of my family don't like it. Suits me - I do!

I guess what's unusual in Bordeaux is normal in Santiago.

Today I have discovered that Lidle sell it too. Strange isn't it, they rarely sell what you DO want but have lots of what you DON'T want? Ah yes! I remember now, I DO like it, it's just that I didn't fancy any today.

We very much like the LIDL vanilla ice-cream that comes in a big blue tub. But we tended to eat too much of it, so now we buy our ice-cream in measured doses - choc-ices.

Oh yes! It's the nicest vanilla ice-cream I know of and at £2.99 a tub, what good value, especially when I wait for it to come on offer at £1.99. I then buy a couple of tubs. The difference between you and me is that I can make it last - I have a thing called 'will-power' you know. Well, in some things...

It's no good, every time I scan down the page past this entry, the picture of the chilli chocolate calls out to me. Today I may just give in to the temptation and call in to Lidl to get some. Do you want me to save you a piece? (It'll only be ONE piece and I don't GUARANTEE that it'll still be here when you come home. Life's hard isn't it?)
