Quick status report

1) Children & health

Gwilym is fighting off l'angine ("strep-throat" or "a nasty sore throat") plus l'otite (earache), with the help of antibiotics and various other stuff. He's not TOO bad today. I could imagine him back at school tomorrow.

Catrin has had a quick dose of something but is at school today.

2) School

I met with the headmistress and she said she would do some sessions with Catrin each day. She started this with both kids some time ago but didn't keep it up, so I asked her if she would be able to do it, and she said "it must be done". She hasn't actually had a session with Catrin since, so I'll give her another week then try to see her again to discuss other options.

3) Pat

Starting conversation sessions with Fiona tomorrow morning.

4) Alan

Civilisation exam this morning (no chance!) and giving a talk on Verdun together with three other people. Jean Vietthong got the short straw, he had to talk about the causes of the 1st World War. But it all seemed to go very well.

Here we are very much in the build-up to Christmas, with lights in the streets, (even more) chocolate in the shops and advent in the church.

So I am off to try and get some Christmas cards organised!
