French food

Pat and I were talking the other day about how our diet has changed since coming over here.

The biggest difference is that we eat almost no butter or margarine. You don't really need to butter baguettes, and sliced bread is expensive and sweet so we don't eat much of that.

I had thought that we would be eating more fruit. Well we did while the plums, peaches and nectarines were in season. But now we're back to oranges, bananas and forty kinds of apples.

But the lettuce! You have to see the lettuce to believe it. Massive heads of wavy green leaves - or nine shapes of frizz in every imaginable shade of green and red.
