A G M P E F

It's a good job I believe in belonging to things.

Because I am a Pasteur Associé (missionary pastor) and church member I belong to the UNEPREF.
I am also an elder in our church in North Wales, so I belong to the AECW.
I also belong to MPEF, which is our mission's identity in France.
But also because I belong to MPEF I am also a member of the Réseau FEF.
FEF and MPEF belong to the CNEF.
The UNEPREF belongs to the FPF.
And our mission is of course UFM.

So that makes, in alphabetical order :

AECW - Associating Evangelical Churches of Wales
CNEF - Conseil National des Evangéliques de France
Réseau FEF - Réseau Fraternel Evangélique Français
FPF - Fédération Protestante de France
MPEF - Mission Protestante Evangélique de France
UFM - UFM doesn't stand for anything any more
UNEPREF - Union Nationale des Eglises Protestantes Réformées Evangéliques de France

Anyway, all that to say that we're all very excited ! We all have to go to Paris next month for a few days to the Annual General Meetings of MPEF. Not only that but some friends (one of whom I have never met) have invited us to stay on in Paris for a couple of days at their place. They have lots of room, apparently.

So we have our tickets. We'll be going by TGV. I wonder if I can persuade the family to walk from Montparnasse to the Arc de Triomphe... It's a good way to see some of the sights of Paris.

Hi Alan
Why don't you take the bus to the Arc? It used to be the no 14 to go up the Champs Elysées and around l'étoile - happy memories - one of my favourite routes! and more comfortable sightseeing! If you have strong nerves the buses around Montmartre are suite something too.

They're really different. I think I have already mentioned that while in the UK people generally find a private teacher for their instrument, or do it through a school scheme, here there are municipal music school, conservatoires and so on. The situation is a little more complex than I had first understood, because the schools vary in the rigidity of their organisation: the most, the conservatoires, next the municipals, then the associations. The Kitchen

 Our new apartment will be equipped with toilet and bathroom etc. but not with anything at all in the kitchen. Not even a sink. So we need to purchase a kitchen and engage a kitchen fitter. A friend who knows how to fit kitchens suggested buying an Ikea kitchen. "They're guaranteed twenty years and they honour their guarantee", he said. "I've proved it". Well I don't know any other kitchen laces in France, and I can't imagine there's much that's cheaper than Ikea, so I was happy to accept his advice.
