In North Wales we lived within 1/2 hour of Liverpool, which grew tremendously because of the slave trade, the "triangle".

Bordeaux, La Rochelle and Nantes were all greatly involved in the French "commerce triangulaire". That's why Bordeaux commemorated this past Wednesday with a ceremony on the quayside where roses were thrown into the Garonne, and with a concert in Place de la Victoire.
