The new Kingdom Hall at Victoire



The people renovating the building are the local Jehovah's Witnesses.

They have a 300 sq m centre being renovated by volunteers.
Apparently there are about 15 JW congregations in "greater Bordeaux" with about 1500 people in total.

It really makes you want to spit. The new JW centre is off Victoire, between the FAC and Lycée Montaigne. Honestly!

What I find scary is their number: 1500. How many Christians are there in the area?

There's lots more than 1500 when you count up the people in the wide spectrum of extreme churches as well as the people who are in institutionally dead churches but who are alive themselves and, of course, the gospel churches.

But it had me worried for a while, too. Sur Bordeaux, where the 1500 are, covers a population of approaching 800,000 people.

The Kitchen

 Our new apartment will be equipped with toilet and bathroom etc. but not with anything at all in the kitchen. Not even a sink. So we need to purchase a kitchen and engage a kitchen fitter. A friend who knows how to fit kitchens suggested buying an Ikea kitchen. "They're guaranteed twenty years and they honour their guarantee", he said. "I've proved it".
