Well I'm not 'avin' any o' that!

In France you can get instant mashed potato with added peas and beans, or with added carrots and pumpkin . It's a way of getting the kids to eat peas and beans. Or it would be, if the mash were not quite this colour.

Pat made a shepherd's pie. Reminds you of the green pastures, doesn't it.

I think the mash with carrots and pumpkin may be bright orange. Perhaps that'll be more successful.

Or perhaps not. Posted by Picasa

I remember (in the days when ADHD was no more than a twinkle in an behavioural psychologist's eye) that mum put red food colouring into our mashed potato to see if it would interest us in it more. I don't think that it did. But I don't think she would have claimed that this was for nutritional reasons .....

It is hard to be interested in mashed potato, isn't it?

I suppose the notable exception is that cheerful song "Mashed potato, mashed potato"... sung by the Wiggles.

Second thoughts, that is not an exception at all!

Alan,
As a lad of the soil, your mashed potato reminds me a bit of soemthing often seen on the fields.. . However I can only hazard a guess that yours tastes much nicer because i never tried the other!
