Three cheers for France Telecom!

Hip hip. Hoorah! Hip hip. Hoorah! Hip hip. Hoorah!

Last night I plugged the loptap into the ADSL router and checked all the parameters were OK. They were, but it said it was disconnected. I said "Connect", but to no avail. So I picked up the phone to ring Wanadoo/Orange.

No dialling tone. (Excellent - that must mean it is a simple problem at France Telecom!)

Ring France Telecom on the mobile. (Thanks, Father, for mobile phones. I hate them but they're useful sometimes!)

A bit of jiggery-pokery. The lady said she'd put a call out to a technician.

Then this morning a call on our phone. All is working again. A wire had been cut at the exchange. (Sabotage!)

So we are up and going again. Now I can find out the best route to Malagar using Viamichelin.fr. This afternoon we are off with the kids to Malagar, to François Mauriac's farm there. He was a writer and journalist - I think a bit like a French Paul Johnston. Lots of the 4th are going.
