It's the government that injects oyster into the mice. If the mice live the oysters are fine. While we wait for the mice to "deliver their verdict" everyone holds their breath in anxious anticipation! Possibly including the mice...

The article doesn't say how the Italians propose to test their oysters. Or if they test them, even...

It's just occurred to me that if the mice hold their breath in anxious anticipation for too long, they may just keel over anyway and give a false conclusion, resulting in many luverly oysters being unnecessarily wasted.

Am I being absurd? Well, I usually am so the answer this time is probably "Yes".
