Mise aux normes

Yesterday one of the students and I zoomed off to take a nice tea at Books and Coffee and talk about a book we're reading, only to find it closed!

Closed till 28 October.

For a mise aux normes (bringing up to standard).

They're making the toilet accessible to people of reduced mobility and putting in a ramp to get in.

My wife is a wheelchair-user, and our perception is that much of France has lagged behind the rest of Europe in terms of disabled access for some times. Has this rush to improvement been prompted by a change in legislation or is it just "catching up"?

I don't know if France lags behind the rest of Europe, but there has been a change in legislation recently.
